UNICEF
WASH in Schools Digital Database
Background
Traditionally the UNICEF WASH (Water and Sanitation and Hygiene) in Schools Programme was very disjointed and cumbersome. Communication between all parties such as Governments, Academics and people on the ground was all over the place, inconsistent and hard to find. UNICEF and IRC, who I have worked with for years, asked us to help come up with a solution.
Challenge
Lots of content, mostly in PDF format needed to be centralised and easy to search for.
Insight
A digital solution was always going to be the best option and search functionality had really come on. Websites like Thread.com and stock image libraries inspired my thinking for how users could visually search a database with ease and even joy!
Audience
Academics to upload content. Everyone involved in WASH in Schools Globally to access the latest content, from research to how to build loos in remote parts of Africa.
Strategy
Get all the content in one place. Create a login so people could save their favourite documents, create collections and see new content relevant to them.
